Pen and Paper GamesPen and Paper Games: Baby Word Game
Give each of your guests a piece of paper and pencil with a list of the alphabet written across vertically. By setting a timer for one minute have your guests write down a baby-related item for each letter of the alphabet, time is of essence in this game to create anticipation. Do it all before the timer goes off! The guest with the most related items wins the prize.

Pen and Paper GamesStrip the celebrities
Hope you read lots of tabloids for this exciting game! You will need a little preparation before the party, but not that much!
Tear out a tabloid picture of a famous or infamous person. Cut the picture of the face (make sure the picture is big enough) into strips horizontally starting with the forehead then the eyes, the nose, the mouth, the chin, then finally the neck area. Mix up the parts and place them in an envelope. Start the game by gathering all your guests in a circle, placing the envelope in the middle, give each guest a pen and paper, have them write numbers from 1 to 7 vertically on the left side of the paper. Take 1 piece of the picture from the envelope and have the guests write who they think the celebrity is, make sure before you choose a second strip of paper that everyone wrote a name on their paper regardless if they know who it is or not. Choose a second strip of the picture from the envelope and place it next to the first strip, players should again try to identify the celebrity with a little more to see now. Continue doing so until the whole picture is revealed, awarding 5 points to the guests that wrote the name of the celebrity when the first strip was revealed, 3 points for the guests that did not guest on the first strip but did on the second and 1 point for the guests that had the right answer only on the third den. Try to find a celebrity that is not too obvious otherwise you will end up with more than one winner, which means more prizes to give. This game can be a challenging game if you pick a celebrity everybody knows but nobody would think of. Pen and Paper games are great fun when you include celebrities.

Pen and Paper GamesPen and Paper Games: Who Me?
This is a game of secret identity. Ask your guests to write 3 little-known facts about themselves on 3 different 3 x 5 cards. The host then picks up all the cards, mix them up and stacks them. Have one of the guests take one of the cards and read it, making sure the fact written on it is not there own, (if it happens to be theirs the cards should be re-mixed) the guest should then guess who wrote the little known-fact, if correct, he or she gets to keep the card and play again on the next card, if the guest is incorrect the card must then be returned at the bottom of the stack then guest # 2 has his or turn with the top card. Continue until all the cards are read. The person with the most cards at the end wins.

Pen and Paper GamesGuess the baby Food
Of all the pen and paper games, this is the most sticky one, it is the baby food tasting game. Very simple you buy baby food jars, remove the labels and have guests see if they can guess the content without opening the jar. For suggestions you can pick a mix of vegetable and fruit like carrots, squash, potatoes, green beans, plums, bananas (everybody's favorite) peaches and blueberries, choose as many jars has you want but stay away from the jars with 2 items mixed like strawberry/bananas or it will get to complicated, tape a number on the lid and the same number for the host on a 3x5 note card with the flavor numbered one by one. Have your guests match the content of the jar with number by writing it down on a 3x5 note card. The guest with the most correct answers wins!

Pen and Paper Games

Pen and Paper Games: What is that baby word?
Who doesn't like to play scrabble? Have a little fun by introducing this game to your party. It's a tumble of baby words and it is a very easy game to play. Prior to the game choose 15 words associated with babies and scramble the spelling of the letters. Make a copy for each guess. Give them 5 minutes to try to unscramble the fifteen baby words by writing them down. The guest with the most correct answers wins! AHVE FNU!

Pen and Paper GamesPen and Paper Games: Baby memory game on a tray
This game will test your guests memory skills, it can look very easy to do but when you are challenged with a time line it's a different story. Pen and paper games are more exciting when you add a limited time. Before the event buy 25 to 30 items that are baby related, pick well because when the game is over these same items will go to the mommy-to-be for her new baby. You will also need a large serving tray or a round cookie sheet. Start the game by giving your guests a pen and paper and ask them to sit in a way that everybody can see the items well. Gather all your baby items on your tray and walk in the middle of the room with your tray low enough for your guests to see, let them take a very good look at the items and then walk out of the room and go hide the tray. Ask your guests to write down on a note card all the items they can remember from memory, have everyone switch cards with the next person beside them (don't forget to have them write their names on the cars) come back with the tray and show them the items one by one so they can check mark every items on the list that they have right. The guests with the most check marks wins!

The price is right
Pen and Paper Games
No, Bob Barker is not invited and no we are not giving away cars BUT we will be better shoppers after this game. We need to go buy at least 10 baby items like diapers, baby food, pacifiers, onesies, baby sheets, teeth rings, baby bottles, bibs, baby shampoo, baby oil, booties, nail clippers, stuffed animals, baby pillow, nose syringe, rattles just a small list to help in your shopping. It is very important after you purchase your items to keep your receipt to know exactly what you purchased and how much you paid. Copy the list of baby items vertically on the left side of several 3x5 note cards, one for each guests, and draw a line beside each item. When you start the game, give each guests a pen and a copy of the 3x5 pre-written note card, proceed by showing your guests item per item and ask them to guess the price to the penny and write their answer beside each corresponding items. To end the game ask your guests to add up all items to a total. The guest closest to the actual price on the receipt (excluding the tax) wins!

Pen and Paper GamesHide mommy-to-be
What you must be thinking! Hide mommy! Yes hide mommy, let me explain one of the great pen and paper games. Before the event have the mommy-to-be dress in more than one color, tell her to add colored jewelry, maybe a tiara, a baby shower lapel button. After playing the first game ask the mommy-to-be to discretely go to her bedroom until you call her out, Give a pen and paper to your guests and ask them some prepared questions about the mommy-to-be, questions like what was the color of her dress, what did she have on her lapel, was she wearing lipstick, was her hair in a ponytail, what color was her jewelry, was she wearing a watch. did she have shoes on. The guest that knows the most wins the prize!

Pen and Paper Games: What is it?
Pen and Paper Games
What in the world is that? That is exactly what you want your guests to say. Pen and Paper Games with a challenge. This game is to challenge who knows best about babies. First before the event make a collection of difficult-to-identify baby items, such as in this case a nose syringe, insect repellant band, cabinet locks, water thermometer, harness tie, child alert beeper, a thumb-sucking splint, old odd toys. If you want you can also use graphic pictures from magazines or catalog instead of the actual items. When you start the game, give each guest a pencil and paper, pass along one item at the time for each guest to examine closely. You will see what your guests comments are, some are very funny. Tell your guests to write down their answers. Reveal the items and have your guests give themselves 5 points for each item they have right. The guest with wins!

Pen and Paper GamesPen and Paper Games: Parenting test
It is time to check your parenting skills. Prior to the event do a little research on child development so you can prepare a list of questions. Make sure your information is up to date, you can find good information with books, on the Internet and parenting magazines. Here is a few questions you could add to your list, when does babies start smiling (5 weeks), when do they start grabbing (6 weeks), when do they start recognizing your face (8 weeks), when do they start giggling (12 weeks), When do they start raising up on their arms when placed on their tummy (16 weeks), when do they play peek-a-boo (20 weeks), when do they start crawling (24 weeks). Make yourself a list of questions (with answers), don't forget to mix up the weeks so they are not following each other, give your guests a 3x5 note card so they can write their answers. Give them one question at a time and give them time to think about their answers. Repeat until all the questions have been read and answered and finally read the questions again but this time give them the answers. 1 point per question, the guest with the most points wins! Give the questionnaire to the mommy-to-be after the game, she might find it useful after the baby is born. Enjoy all of these pen and paper games, they were fun to research.
