A great baby shower luau theme is all about fun in the sun, island palms, bright colors and bamboo torches.
The greatest asset for the outdoors will be the bamboo torches but if your party is indoors, bring them in, they will make a great addition to your decor, even without the flame.
For a taste of Hawaii, arrange a tray of tropical fruit such as pineapple, mango, kiwi, passion fruit and guava. The luau theme is also great for tropical drinks, just add an umbrella and a slice of fruit to bring it all together.
Tie a clothesline into the party room, clip a few Hawaiian theme onesies, finish it off by adding a few exotic flowers, flip flops and a few theme related clip arts you can print out from the internet .
Purchase hula skirts and encourage your guests to hula dance, you can even make it into a contest.

BABY SHOWER LUAU THEME RECIPES
FRUIT SALAD
Ingredients
1 pineapple cut in half, across
juice from 1 lemon
1/2 cup of seedless grapes
1 can of mandarin, drained
1 sliced banana
6 sliced strawberries
2 sliced kiwi
1/2 cup raspberries
1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 cup pineapple chunks
dressing mixture
Juice from a lime
1/2 cup of pineapple juice
1 tsp ground ginger
Preparation
Remove the core of the pineapple halves
Squeeze lemon over the shell and pineapple chunks to prevent browning
In a separate bowl, add all the fruits and pour in the dressing mixture
Toss together gently
Spoon in the fruit into the pineapple shell
Add 1 tbsp of whipped cream (optional)
1 drink umbrella
Chill until served
PAPAYA SALAD
Ingredients
1 small green papaya
1 cup bean sprout
8-10 cherry tomatoes
1/2 cup chopped, roasted cashews
1 red chili, minced
3 spring onions sliced lengthwise
1/2 cup fresh basil
Handful of coriander
2 cups of peeled shrimp
Dressing
1/2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp olive oil
3 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp fish sauce
2 tbsp liquid honey
Preparation
Peel the papaya then slice in half and remove seeds
Grate the papaya and add to bowl
Add the cherry tomatoes, bean sprout, peeled shrimp, red chili, spring onions and dressing
Blend together and toss well
To serve, scoop salad into small plates, add cashews, sprinkle basil and garnish with a basil leaf.
PROSCIUTTO MELON
Ingredients
1/4 lb thinly sliced proscuitto
1 cantaloupe
Juice from 1 lemon
bunch of red grapes
Fresh mozzarella cheese ball (optional)
toothpicks or bamboo skewers
Preparation
Cut the melon in half and remove seeds
Using a melon baller, scoop up the melon in small balls
Place the melon balls in bowl and sprinkle the lemon juice over them.
Take a small slice of proscuitto and wrap it around the melon ball.
Attach together with a toothpick or a bamboo skewer
Adorn top with a grape
Add a mozzarella ball (optional)

BABY SHOWER LUAU THEME GAMES
THE COCONUT GAME
This game is lots of fun!
Have the players line up side by side and place a coconut
on the ground in front of them. At the other end of the room place a wicker basket
for each player. Have each player grab the coconut with their knees(no hands aloud)
have them waddle to the wicker basket. If any players drops their coconut, they must
pick it back up with their knees and continue on. The player that drops the coconut
in the wicker basket first, wins!

MAKE YOUR OWN LEIS
Leis are fun to make and could be a great activity for your baby shower.
To start, make sure to have enough flowers for all your guests to make 1 lei each. You will need approximately 50 blossom for each leis. Any flowers will do, such as carnation, daisies or plumerias.
You will need the longest sewing needles and about 60 inches of thread per lei (dental floss works very well).
String the flowers from head to base and make sure they are close together to make a full lei. End with a double knot.
